More About Aro
ARO creates expressive abstract paintings that explore emotion, memory and human experience through colour, texture and movement. Working instinctively, she builds richly layered surfaces using gestural mark-making, controlled drips and energetic compositions inspired by the traditions of lyrical abstraction and artists such as Jackson Pollock and Jean-Paul Riopelle. Her paintings often emerge from deeply personal reflections, yet are intended to create universal points of connection, inviting viewers to project their own experiences and emotions into each work. Themes of transformation, introspection, resilience and renewal run throughout her evolving body of work, while recurring motifs, including the circle, symbolise continuity, balance and human connection.
Since opening Galerie ARO in 2018, she has presented numerous solo exhibitions and participated in major international art fairs and museum exhibitions, including Art Shopping at the Carrousel du Louvre, Art Expo New York, World Art Dubai, the Venice Biennale, and the Museum of Civilization in Cairo. Her work is represented by galleries in Canada, the United States and Europe, and is held in prominent public, corporate and private collections, including the National Assembly of Québec and collections associated with Michelle Obama. ARO has received numerous international awards, including the Women of Inspiration™ Award (2025) and the Artist Entrepreneur of the Year Grand Jury Prize (2026). Beyond her studio practice, she is an active speaker, workshop facilitator and advocate for innovation in the arts, including the adoption of Digital Product Passports to help protect the provenance and long-term legacy of her artworks.
