About Jade Stout

Jade Stout's practice explores the emotional and sensory experience of landscape rather than its literal appearance. Inspired by the coastlines of Orkney and the wider Scottish landscape, she creates paintings that evoke memory, atmosphere and a deep sense of place. Working intuitively with layered surfaces, subtle tonal variations and expressive mark-making, her compositions balance abstraction and representation, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in expansive horizons and shifting light.

Beginning with observational sketches and studies, Jade develops her ideas through a process of refinement across different scales before resolving them into richly textured paintings. Her work reflects the rhythms of weather, sea and land, transforming personal memories and lived experience into contemplative landscapes that resonate with a universal sense of calm, connection and belonging. Alongside original paintings, her practice also encompasses prints, artist books and bespoke commissions, offering collectors deeply personal works inspired by meaningful places and memories.
